Causes of Bad Breath Even After BrushingWhen you don't brush your teeth properly and regularly, it leads to numerous dental issues, one of which is bad breath in the mouth.

Also known as halitosis, bad breath can be truly embarrassing, and truth be told, a great number of people experience this issue.

But, there are times when bad breath persists even when you brush your teeth daily and ensure proper dental care.

Why does that happen?

Here are a few causes of bad breath even after brushing and flossing.

Bacteria On the Tongue

The back of the tongue presents the ideal breeding ground for bacteria, given the number of crevices and grooves present there. So, when bacteria begin to accumulate on your tongue, and you don't do anything about it, it results in bad breath in the mouth.

What You Eat

Often times, bad breath is caused by foods that you eat, such as onion and garlic, for instance. These vegetables comprise of stinky sulfur compounds in high concentrations that result in a strong aroma and smell when you eat them.

You need to brush and floss your teeth properly after eating such foods in order to prevent bad mouth odor.

Dry Mouth

Dry mouth, as the name suggests, is a condition in which the salivary glands don't produce enough saliva in the mouth to keep it wet. This is another common cause of bad breath, given how saliva acts as a natural deterrent to keep the bacteria away. When not enough saliva is produced, you end up with a dry mouth and bad breath.

There can be many other causes of bad breath other than these, such as:

•  tonsil stones
•  smoking/ chewing tobacco
•  gum disease
•  plaque on your teeth
